Remarks |
1. George Frederic Pardon was an industrious booksellers' hack, rarely appearing before the public under
his own name. He frequently used the pen name "Captain Crawley". In the estimation of "Cavendish" he wrote
"the worst book on games ever published." It's often erroneously believed that Pardon was also the
author of Backgammon: Its History and Practice.
2. According Jessel<1278>: "little more than a reprint of the 1844 book". Same book publ. As "Beeton's Handbook of Backgammon", 1866 3. I am still searching for this book. If you can help, please contact me via eMail. |
